Dataedo Repository
The Dataedo repository is a centralized storage system for managing database schemas and their documentation. It provides a structured and organized way to document databases, with each repository divided into documentations that represent individual database schemas.
With Dataedo repository, you can document as many databases as you need without limitations and organize your documentation efficiently. Each repository is neatly organized, allowing you to group and manage database schemas in a way that makes sense for your workflow.
Repository is organized into documentations and each represents a database schema.

Types of Repositories
You can structure your repositories based on your organization’s needs. For example:
- Group-based repositories: Create one repository for each group of users, such as a team, department, project, or product.
- Client-specific repositories: For software development or consulting firms, maintain separate repositories for each customer. These repositories can even be hosted at the customer’s premises, if needed. While there’s no limit to the number of repositories you can create, consolidating where possible can make management easier and more efficient.
Repository technology
Dataedo supports two repository types:
- SQL Server repository
- Azure Database repository
Both types are standard databases that use a predefined schema to store all Dataedo-related information. They require no additional software and support concurrent work, making them ideal for collaboration across teams.
