Titles/aliases
What are titles
The purpose of many database objects changes as the database evolves. However, you don't have to change the names of tables or other objects. It can also happen that the original object has a non-meaningful name that cannot be changed, however you'd still like it to have a clear, understandable display name in your catalog. This is why Dataedo gives you the ability to add titles to select objects.
Adding titles
You can define titles for tables, views, procedures, functions, and columns. Titles are optional — objects without a title will have their regular name displayed in Dataedo.
Titles in Portal
To define a title, open an object and click the three dots icon [1] next to its name. After that select the Edit title [2] option.

After that, a textbox where you can define a title will appear. Type your desired name and confirm it by either pressing the enter key on your keyboard, or clicking away with your mouse. You can also discard your changes using the back arrow icon in the textbox.

Once the title is changed, you will see the object's title as a display name, with its original name written underneath.

Titles in Desktop
To add a title, click the Title field on the object's form and type in your desired alias. Press the Save button or Ctrl+S keys to save changes.

If you need to assign many titles at once, it's more convenient to do it in an objects table. Select the Tables folder in the tree navigator to change tables' titles. Update the Title column of the desired tables. Changes are saved instantly.
